I am a newly-arrived Romanian in Madrid and a recent PhD graduate in Visual Arts (Photography).

I think of my work as a way of salvaging ordinary photographs (especially family photographs) and 'little histories' of trauma and resilience from oblivion, through both research and photo practice.

My interest is the way in which vernacular photographs (and vernacular imagery in a more general sense) shape private and public memory and give rise to affectively charged discourses in contexts marked by mobility, socio-historical pressures, changing power dynamics, or inequality.
